Snapfix Switch!
If you are like us you could use a mid-week boost;
So, we are excited to share this news...
Snapfixis switching to Wednesday's
starting May 19th.
Now Let's talk about Shaping Up with Discover Dies...
Discover Level Dies cut shapes to fit directly on the grid paper.
Note the page above. Jodi used Strip Frame Dies in all 4 corners. The strip cuts from these dies work together to create a design; however, each individual strip fits the grid perfectly.
Discover level dies include Strips, Corner Cut-Out, Corner Tiles, Horizon, Soleil, Steps, and of course all the grid dies. This die level requires a little more planning and preparation than the Explore Level dies; however, they are a great way to "shape up" your photos with little effort required! You will love creating layouts with them!
How Can I get My Photos to Work with Level 2 Dies?
Many of us have photos where our subjects (such as family members, friends, and pets) take up the entire 4x6 photo - making it difficult to crop into unique shapes and small spaces.
If your photos are available digitally, you can resize them before printing to fit within the smaller spaces of the specialty dies. However, if the photos were pre-printed and cannot be cropped, we suggest saving them for a design that uses larger basic bundle dies.
Developing great habits, before you jump into designing with Discover Level dies, will make using them so much more satisfying!
Here are the Snap Habits you need:
Get up Close, but then take several steps back (or zoom out). Be sure to take photos at a variety of distances. Remember, you can always crop in on a photo but you can't add the surroundings later.
Take photos both vertically and horizontally. This is key for using specialty dies since you have to generally fill vertical and horizontal spaces in the design.

"Southern Utah" by Paije Potter - Patterns #157 & #627
Your assignment this week is to look through your photo stashes (whether they are already printed or you have them digitally) and see which subjects would look best with the level two dies.
Photos that work best in the unique shapes tend to be without any people (such as landscapes, flowers, or various subjects) or photos that were taken a bit further away. If you find you do not have many photos that work with level two dies, it may be time to develop some new photo habits! Read the FAQ section above
to see what habits you need going forward.
For the above layout, Paije had many landscape photos that were taken from a distance - these worked well with the Grid & Circles Die since you can see the landscape features easily in each circle.
If you have any questions about level two dies you can ask them in our Crop & Share Facebook group. See the info below:
