Winter is here for a bit, so we might as well look at the good aspects of it. After all, it is pretty and fun to play in, according to the puppy above. It gives us an opportunity to break out the blues and purples in our craft room. We can try out the new Jack Frost tri-color pack of the month, which includes the Lilac Grid Paper featured in Paije's layout.
And, we get to embellish our pages with lots of sparkle and shine. Notice the little dots of glitter on the mat of the center photo? Paije made those with Stickles. It's super easy and in addition to adding sparkle, it helps fill in that uneven space on a 4x6 photo mat. Paije continued adding them in and around her snowflakes. Winter really can be snow much fun!
Learn how to embellish your layouts with this new video. Paije will share ideas, tips and tricks. The layout in this video features 12x12 White grid paper from the Jack Frost Grid Trio. Click the button below to watch.
"Winter Paddle Boarding" by Jodi Benson - Pattern #602
Gold is a great color to use to warm up the cool blue tones of your layout. For this page, Jodi embossed blue cardstock and then added gold chalk ink to the top of it. It matches the ribbon she chose for the focal photo perfectly. By the way, the Mist Grid Paper featured on this layout is also part of the special tri-color Jack Frost set.
Jodi's layout is just one of the embellished winter layouts our design team has put together. From dies to glitter, you will discover new ways to embellish, see how different products work, and scraplift the designs. Click the blue button below to see them all.

Our customers consistently ask about our favorite die-cutting machine. There are many good machines available, but our preferred one is the Sizzix® Big Shot. It has many options available including a Crease Pad (to get rid of the lines on your photos), a magnetic platform (to hold dies in place), and a metal plate (for help cutting out letters or other intricate dies). Additionally, the
replacement cutting plates are easy to find. There is even an electric version available for those who do not wish to crank. Get your machine at your local scrapbook store, Scrapbook.com or on Amazon.
Scrapbooking is all about the memories, but it's also fun to play around with new ideas.
This week's assignment is try out a new embellishment you have never used before. It could be enamel dots, a decorative die, twine, an embossing folder, or whatever interests you. You can do one of the embellishment ideas in the article, video or the layout above, or come up with your own idea.
The layout shown here used the Stitch Frame Dies, fun pattern paper and stickers from Doodlebug Design™.
