MOSAIC MOMENTS® PRESENTS:
4 Days until our Gratitude Sale begins
and our NEW Die is revealed
Hello
Every day brings us one step closer to the big reveal! It is such a secret, even I do not know what it is, so my anticipation is growing even as I write. But, while we wait, let's talk about one of the coolest bits of Mosaic Magic -- strips!
Day 4
Super Pages with Strips
Set the Scene in a Big Way
"Beautiful Belle Isle" by Paije Potter - Pattern #546
Strips allow us to create a faux panoramic. You simply line up the horizons on consecutive photos and then cut them all into strips, discarding portions that overlap. With a bit of Mosaic Magic, they trick the eye into thinking it is one giant photo. This year, we were lucky enough to receive a new strip die -- the 1x4 shown here. The strips in this die are open, so it is the easiest of the strip
family to work with and a great choice if you are new to strips.
Highlight a Horizon
"I Love NY" by Paije Potter - Pattern #315
The Mosaic Magic works on cityscapes, too. Here, Paije used the 1x3 Strip Die and multiple photos to create this beautiful downtown. You could try this technique with farmland, mountains, or even the beach.
Move Around the Corner
"Kayaking on the Creek" by name - Free-Styled Layout
The Corner Strips Die and Corner Connector Die can also create amazing strips, although these work around the corner of the layout. We love how Paije combined kayaking photos in this
one. Note: If you would like to cut your photos into four corner strips, you will need to print 5x7 pictures. However, mixing in a bit of pattern paper works well when working with 4x6 prints, don't you think?
Frame Your Adventurous Side
"Africa Wild Trek" by Paije Potter - Pattern #364
Strip Frame Dies add a unique touch to your layout. You can use them, like Paije did here, to frame a photo with pattern paper. Or, you could cut just the photo. These dies work great with scenic photos where you want emphasis on the tiny people next to a mountain or monument, an eagle
soaring in the sky, or sign or small cabin in the distance. Try them. You'll like them.
Create a Place for a Date
"Snow Fun" by Paije Potter - Pattern #307
Strip dies can also be used to cut lots of strips quickly. We love how the strips on this layout go all the way across the bottom of the page and provide a nice place for the date. The strips on this layout were created using the 1x2 Strips Die.
