The Basic Die Bundle is the most important, so if you don't already have it, now is the time. It's the set you use on almost every layout. It includes a variety of sizes of squares and rectangles that fit the Grid. It also includes smaller dies that can be used to cut layers with a 1/4" border. You can see this in the striped paper above.
The Layering Die Bundle does not fit the Grid. It is used to create layers only. However, the Layering Die Bundle allows you to make layers with a 1/8" border, as you can see with the yellow and white papers in the layout above.
Border dies are decorative strips that add a bit of personality to your layout.
Some, like the Diamond Borders Set pictured above, are shapes that can work with anything. Others are seasonal, including bunnies, trees, hearts, acorns and many other shapes.
Frame dies do just what they say -- they frame a photo, journaling block or
other element on your layout. Here, the Scallop Frame Plus Die Set 3x3 adds a touch of elegance to the page and frames the more candid shots.

Alphabets and Numbers can be used to create ages, dates, names, titles and
more. These are the dies you will use frequently and they come in a variety of fonts and two sizes. This layout features the whimsical font of the Alphabet 3 Uppercase, Lowercase and Numbers set.
Unlike sticker letters, these will always match perfectly and you will never run out of "e", because you can cut them out yourself. Eventually, these sets will pay for themselves in the money you will save from not having to buy letters. And, you can cut letters and numbers from scraps, so they are practically free!
Even if you use mostly page kits, you will want these dies. There is usually enough scrap paper with your kit to cut out your title.
