  MosaicPage  Monticello - Page Process

Have you ever taken a lot of photos and had a difficult time deciding which ones to choose from to create a page? Tami shows her process of narrowing down her photos in her post. Here is a peek:

Monticello wb

"Monticello is a gorgeous historical site. It sits on top of a mountain in Charlottesville, Virginia. The views are spectacular - especially the views overlooking the surrounding hills and valleys. In just a few hours, at Monticello, I snapped 320 photos.

The biggest challenge I have, with most of my pages, is choosing the photos. With so many options it can be difficult to narrow down enough to fit the choices on 1-2 pages. Once I decide the "story" I want my pages to tell, narrowing is a little easier."

ChallengeNew
June's Mosaic Moments Challenge: Photos inspired by the Alphabet

Take pictures that include Alphabet letters  - think of a message or a word you'd like to share - let it inspire the photos you take.

Example: You can take pictures that include signs, scrabble tiles, sidewalk chalk, chalk boards - or create your own letters using non-traditional materials.

Here is a page example using Alphabet Photographs:

I love to ride rollar coasters, so I decided to create a page about it using this challenge. Every single photograph you see on this page (including the letters) was taken at the theme park. I decided to take photographs of different letters from signs around Busch Gardens.

Here is the process on how I took the photographs and how I edited them to fit in a 2.125 square space. I used Iphoto (available on Mac computers) to do this process, but it may also work on other photo editing applications.

First take the photographs the best you can, and take a lot of them! I took many photographs of the same letters to make sure that at least one of them would turn out when I came home from the park. Get up close to the letters as much as possible with your camera.

Here are a few of the letter photographs I took at the park:

In Iphoto I used my crop tool and made my images a square shape. Make sure to crop the photo so that the letter is in the center. Also, make the letter so that it fills up the majority of the space in the square. Here are the images of each photograph cropped to a square:

When I printed the images I changed the size to 2.125w x 2.125h and I punched them out with a 2.125 punch.

When brainstorming for this challenge think of a theme or a message you would like to portray. Here I wanted to convey roller coasters as fun. I took my alphabet photographs from the actual park, and my images helped my page to look fun and colorful. Here are a couple of other ideas: If you like nature write a word describing it using objects you can find outside. You can create letters out of leaves, sticks, pine cones, etc. Another idea is take pictures of your children/grandchildren playing hopscotch and spell their names out with sidewalk chalk. This can be a cute and fun page to show how much fun your children are.

Mosaic Moments Inspired Photo: Bicycles

Here is a peek of Tami's Mosaic Moments Inspired Photo post from May:

 BicycleNYC-Tami Potter

"Confession: I have a fetish for Bicycles and for the shadows they make.

I don't remember when I took my "first shot" at a bicycle. There have been so many now - photographing bicycles has grown on me (like flowers) when I see a bicycle I have to stop and take a picture; Especially if it is an interesting bicycle or in an interesting location."

Featuring Candy's "Unlaced" Mosaic Moments Page

Picture 3

CandyThis month we are featuring Candy's lovely Mosaic Moments Page. In May the design team was asked to create a page with a forget-me-not message. Candy described in her post that she had a difficult time with the theme of this page. In the end she overcame the challenge and created a wonderful page. This month the design team was challenged to incorporate string, Cornerstones or doodles on their page. Candy's choice to use string was excellent for her page and she used this embellishment in a creative way on her layout. The materials she chose helped convey her story and her overall theme "unlaced".

Candy created a nice overall theme in her layout and used her materials well to convey her message. She encouraged us to overcome challenges we may encounter when creating a scrapbook page. Thanks Candy!

Visit Candy's post to read her story and cheer her on! Also see Journella to see other posts from our current and past design team members.
