Darling Ways to Capture Your Month in Review
"A Month Review of Sept 2024" by Jodi Benson - Pattern #368

You’re wrapping up a season, a month, or maybe even a whole year of memories—and sometimes those pages deserve an extra-sweet touch. That’s where the Darling Dies shine.
All November long, we’re highlighting
month-in-review and year-in-review layouts. The Darling Dies are perfect for this style because they give you space to showcase your “star of the month” photos while still including all the little supporting snapshots that tell the full story.
Take Jodi’s layout,
“A Month Review of Sept 2024.” She placed her favorite photos of her granddaughter in the layered 4x4 Darling Dies, giving them the spotlight they deserve. Then she used the Darling 2x4s to share the rest of the month’s memories, sprinkling in everyday moments that add richness and context. The finished page feels polished, personal, and completely her own—just what a review layout should be.
And don’t forget the Darling Pieces—they add charm, balance, and flow to pull everything together beautifully. The result? A page that’s full of personality and heart, while still being easy and fun to create.
So go ahead—make your next review layout truly Darling!

Paije Potter’s layout, “Tiger Trek Trail,” shows just how creative you can get with the Darling Dies.
She started with Pattern #102—a mostly-squares design that gave her plenty of structure to play with. Into the center, she placed four 4x4Darling die cuts, filling the mini spots to
form a bold X shape that immediately draws your eye.
Her choice of background makes the whole design sing—Paije used the Fisherman’s Wharf 12x12 grid paper. Its seamless texture and color echo the mural photos so beautifully that the grid almost disappears, making photos and
paper look like one continuous piece.
For extra detail, she sprinkled in dots as embellishments and framed her Darling cuts with mural photos, creating a striking full-page border. Inside the dies, the round circles hold four unique photos, while the ovals pick up colors from the
mural, tying the layout together in a soft, artistic way. Finally, the corners feature 1x1 squares with the year “2023,” a perfect detail to anchor the page in time.
This layout is a great reminder that Darling Dies can be both structured
and playful. Start with a solid pattern, form a central design, and let your grid color and embellishments work with your photos—you’ll love how polished and seamless your page feels.

A Color Hike: Blending Nature & Design
"Our Hike Together" by Paije Potter - Pattern #368
Dies needed to create this look:
Darling
Layering Die Bundle Colored A-L through E-L
Basic Die Bundle A-E & 1" Grid - Colored
Paije’s Cascade Falls layout is a gorgeous example of how color choices can elevate your design. She began with a neutral wood-toned grid paper that sets a warm, earthy foundation—perfect for telling a hiking story.
Inside the Darling Dies, she paired her trail photos with soft floral patterned papers. The muted browns, peaches, and corals echo details from the photos—tree bark, trail markers, even the hikers’ clothing—so everything feels like it belongs together. The florals bring in a gentle pop of playfulness, balancing the rugged outdoor theme with a touch of charm.
Repeating those colors across the layout creates flow: your eye naturally moves from one section to the next, taking in the full adventure. And the handwritten title block in the center fits seamlessly with the palette, giving it presence without overpowering the photos.
This page shows that color doesn’t need to be bold to make an impact—subtle choices can create harmony, balance, and a story that feels whole.
✨ Try This: Choose one neutral base (like wood tones or soft cream) + one accent color from your photos (like a floral, sign, or piece of clothing). Repeat them across your page for an effortless, pulled-together look.
