Why We Scrapbook – Catching the Waves & Capturing the Moments

At Mosaic Moments, it’s never just about cutting paper and placing photos. It’s about preserving the moments that matter – and that’s
exactly what designer Jodi captured in her Catching the Waves layout.
Using the 3x3 Steps Die and the T-Square Die, Jodi created a rhythm of movement that echoes the energy of paddle boarding with family – each photo carefully placed to tell the story of connection,
adventure, and joy. The 2x2 Corner Cut-Out die cuts and vibrant 1x6 strips of tropical leaf patterned paper frame the layout like a window into paradise.
But the heart of this design? The 4x4 center photo of two brothers-in-law, hands steady on the paddle board, standing
side-by-side next to the surf. It’s a snapshot of fun times and adventures with family.
This is why we scrapbook. To hold onto these fleeting waves of time – and celebrate the ones we ride together.

Jodi’s College Run Farms 2021 layout is autumn storytelling at its finest — and the colors do just as much talking as the photos!
Set on a soft 12x12
Fresh Malt grid paper, she paired rich cocoa brown mats with patterned Steps die cuts and a Four Corner Cut-Out die cut that bring fall to life. One patterned paper features a warm orange background sprinkled with tiny cocoa acorns and delicate cream ring accents — like little whispers of fall breezes. The other Steps are cut from a cream base adorned with cocoa acorns, rustic oranges, and mustard-yellow leaves — a perfect echo of crunchy leaves underfoot.
With the Steps Dies and Four Corner Cut-Out Dies centered like a seasonal wreath, 2x2 matted pumpkin-picking photos circle the design, turning the entire page into a celebration of autumn’s simple joys.
This layout doesn’t just show a day on the farm — it feels like one. Cozy, crisp, and full of cherished moments and fall colors.

Curious how to get that perfectly layered look with the Steps Die? Paije breaks it all down in this quick and inspiring video! You'll see how to create movement, frame your photos just right, and combine it with other dies for stunning layouts — just like the ones in this email.
Paije’s Winter Wonderland layout is a masterclass in balance, flow, and thoughtful design – and a perfect example of how the right dies can make your story shine.
She began by anchoring the four corners with the largest 4x4 Steps Die, beautifully cut from a moody winter floral paper. The dark background makes the soft green leaves and blush-pink flowers pop – adding elegance and subtle texture to the layout’s frame.
To each
side, Fat-T die cuts show cozy, snow-filled photos of Alexis exploring the winter landscape, while T-Square Corner Cut-Out die cuts at the top and bottom feature delicate snowy bushes, drawing the eye inward.
Four small 1x1 brown squares fill in the remaining grid spaces with just
the right touch of warmth and grounding. At the heart of it all is a 4x6 center photo of Alexis beaming against a snowy backdrop – a focal point that captures joy and quiet wonder all at once. The handwritten “January 2018” in white gel pen adds a personal, heartfelt finishing touch.
Using the Discover level (L2) dies from the Cut-Out Series, Paije creates a layout that feels harmonious and intentional – every piece working together like a puzzle of beauty and memory.
