Journaling is an important part of your layout--helping to give context to your pictures, telling your stories to other viewers, and your writing will be a treasured memory. Journaling gives many people a block when scrapbooking, but it doesn't have to. If you keep it simple, the words will flow. One way to journal is to tell the story of the day. When, where, who, and any interesting things that happened along the way. Sometimes your pictures don't tell your whole story and written
journaling helps you remember the finer details.
Try to use your own everyday voice, and it will be easy to tell your story.
If you struggle to tell your story, you can do these three things to add meaningful journaling to your layouts:
Start with the barest facts: the date, the names of the people in your photos, and where the photos were taken. Just these key details make your memory keeping more meaningful. You'd be surprised how much you will forget in a short time. Adding these facts will be worth your time.
Add a title to your page. There's a lot of information to be found in a title, and it looks really
great on your page.
Add the details you want to remember when you look back. Share the personal anecdotes of the day. Describe the photos and add details another person might not notice.
Once you
get writing, you will most likely will be able to tell the whole story and add meaningful details with ease.
Here's a journaling prompt to get you thinking about your next page: What was the best part of this day?
You take photos of the best things you see on your trips, so you should journal about the best parts too. Did you learn anything or see anything new? Were you moved by something you saw? Was the best part of this day being with the people you brought with you? What about this day brought you happiness, peace, or personal change? Was there a challenge or height that you conquered?
Hopefully, one of these questions will inspire you to journal on your next layout.
Designer Note: Try
embracing your handwriting when journaling because it's a great personal touch to your layout.
