I asked a question on Facebook: "What is holding you back and what can we do to help in 2025."

Something that really tugged at my heart was how many people shared that they missed the connections they had when they were able to gather with friends at local scrapbook stores. So, I did some searching and I found a solution we can all enjoy together and I am so excited to share it with you!

Use a Die Series on Two Page Winter Spreads

"Winter in the OBX" (Side B) by Paije Potter - Pattern #334

Die Series (such as Honeycomb) are great for two page spreads because you can easily tie both pages together with different sized, but similarly designed dies.

Paije paired the Honeycomb die series with her winter beach photos for this gorgeous two page spread. The Honeycomb dies are not only good for spring and summer layouts, they also make great embellishments for winter. Don't just keep them for garden photos either, they can be used for any place including the beach.

Because you can fill the Honeycomb die cuts with any color and design, as well as texture photos or pattern paper, they will work on any layout with any photos or theme.

Paije used shell photos and purple cardstocks as well as a gold cardstock to make a random pattern on her Honeycomb die cuts with the purple more centered in the spaces. She was sure to make each page of her layout different— there are a variety of page patterns, photos and different sized Honeycomb dies to keep interest. Your eyes are happily traveling between both pages.

To keep the two pages cohesive; she kept the subject of the pages, the 12x12 grid paper, the die series, and the styling of the dies the same so you know it's one complete layout.

Designer Tip: To fill in little spaces like the tiny honeycomb hexagons, use the Quickstik tool and liquid glue for a much easier application. You will thank us when you're filling in dies with many tiny design spots like the Honeycomb dies.

Add a touch of elegance to your spreads with the Scallop Mats.

The Scallop Mats come in sizes to go with the Basic Die Sets A, B, and C. You can use multiple sizes to add variety to your two page spreads, and they are an easy way to add a bit of elegance and importance to your photos as well as the overall look of your layout.

On this first page, Jodi used the 4x5 Scallop Mat and the 1x1 from the Scallop Mats C Die Set.

On the second page, Jodi used the Scallop Mats A on top of the dark green 4x4 mats, the 1x1 Scallop Mats again, and a 2x2 Scallop Mat for the center Fir Tree die cut.

All of the layering mats, including the different sized Scallop Mats, really up the 'wow' factor of this two page spread. The Scallop Mats are a simple way to add more sophistication and style to your photographs. This two page spread could be recreated with the photos of your kids or with photos of adults as well.

Pie Dies!

"Favorite Winter Retreat" (Side A) by Jodi Benson - Pattern #431

The Pie Dies are a super fun series to use for your two page spreads.

We usually show them for fall or year-in-review layouts but love them for wintertime too. For winter layouts, you can use blue shades of cardstock and winter pattern papers alongside of your winter photos cropped into the Pie slices.

"Favorite Winter Retreat" (Full) by Jodi Benson - Pattern #431 & #809

It's considered good design to not repeat the exact page on both sides of your two page spread. If you use the full Quarter Pie on one side of your layout, then opt for the smaller size on the other. We have the Small Pie 3x3 and the Mini Pie 2x2 for you to choose from for the second page.

Jodi chose the Mini Pie for her second page and placed four of them in the center of her layout. It looks like she cropped one beautiful winter landscape photo for the dies and added slices of winter pattern paper.

This is a great winter two page spread you can easily scraplift for your own winter photos.
