Easily Create Mosaics with the Grid Die

Did you know that the colored Basic Die Bundle comes with a green 1 inch grid die?

It makes creating mosaics so easy! Not only does it cut perfect 1x1 squares in your photos, but there are little tabs that will keep your photo in one piece until you are ready to pull each 1x1 square apart and place on your layout. That gives you time to apply your adhesive so, you don't have to spend time figuring out where and which direction each 1x1 square goes. The grid die is also an open grid so you see exactly where on your photo you will be cutting. You can easily adjust your photo if you don't want to cut the whole 4x6 picture, but just a section of it. Lastly, the grid die cuts twenty-four 1x1 squares, so you can cover a lot of the grid quickly if you are making large mosaics. It will take much less time to make than if you were to hand-cut the mosaic yourself.

Jodi got all the benefits of using her 1 inch grid die for this layout of herself and her husband at the Chickahominy River. It was a snap to cut the colorful leaf pattern paper into a 1x1 mosaic across the top of her page.

Use the Basic Dies for Your Embellishments

"Yellowstone 2010" by Paije Potter - Pattern #243

The Basic Die cuts make great spots for added embellishments such as ribbons, stickers, etc.

For instance, on Paije's Yellowstone layout she cut two 2x3 mats with green textured pattern paper with the Basic Dies and added ribbon and a sticker to each 2x3 section. The ribbon was placed on each 2x3 spot at the same level. The stickers are different, one says "travel" and the other says "remember". It's a great way to keep your layout structured on the grid in the Mosaic Moments® way you love while also adding the unexpected.

Can you make gorgeous pages with the Basic Die Bundle?

Yes you can! Whether you are just getting started or you have been making Mosaic Moments pages for a long time, the basic die bundle can be your go-to for amazing layouts. In this video, Paije shows some of her favorite layouts that only (or mostly) use the basic dies! We love the level 2 and level 3 dies, but sometimes it's nice to go back to the basics.

Use the Basic Dies with Pattern Paper

"Zoo Farm" by Paije Potter - Pattern #897

The Basic Dies are not only for cardstock and photos.

Basic shapes are also great for adding pattern paper to help tell your story and decorate your page. It's an especially great technique if you don't have a lot of photos and need to fill space on your layout.

Paije's layout above uses four different pattern papers she cut with the Basic Dies including the 1 inch grid die. The papers all help tell her zoo visit story, and they fill various design spots on her layout. The black and white cow pattern was cut with the 1 inch grid die. The vegetables paper, yellow chicken wire paper, and chicken pattern paper were cut with the Basic Dies. The vegetable and chicken wire patterns she used as mats for photos. The adorable chicken pattern paper was cut into 2x2 squares and used as embellishments to help tell the farm story and fill in spaces she didn't have photos for. She loved how fun and colorful it turned out.
