MOSAIC MOMENTS® PRESENTS:
"Philadelphia" by Tami Potter
Hello
Does a great pattern translate to great pages?
We think it does! Think of a pattern for pages like a pattern for a dress. Can you make a dress without a pattern? Sure, but starting with a pattern brings confidence. You know what you need and what the final product will be.
Using a pattern to create a page offers similar benefits. The pattern shows you how many spots you need to fill and the sizes; so, you can gather photos and papers and create pages with confidence.
See how our design team used patterns below and be sure to see all of our helpful pattern resources: Pattern Book, Pattern Gallery.
Our blog post below, "Pick the Right Pattern" explains how to find out! Click the button to go straight to the article.
Why was this pattern chosen for these bridal photos?
Pattern #191 is categorized as a Mostly Squares pattern. Mostly Squares patterns generally have a higher number of design spots. Many photos are taken at weddings, and we want to fit in all the details and special moments. This pattern was great for this bride since there is a large center for a portrait, and many squares to add in a lot of photos from the event.
Paije was able to add detail shots of the bride's shoes, flowers, hairstyle, and most importantly - lots of different shots and angles of the beautiful bride.

4 Steps to Choosing the Right Pattern (video) - Paije shares four steps to picking out the right pattern for your chosen dies and photos. Watch through the end of the video to get her bonus tip!
Column Patterns are layout designs made with two or more vertically aligned sections.
You should be able draw a vertical line through the gaps between each of the design spots if it's a column pattern. With Pattern #444 above, you can see there are three distinct columns of mostly
vertical beach photos. The elements of each column don't generally overlap or extend into any of the other columns including the embellishments - the 2x2 beachy cornerstones and beachy patterned paper. Column patterns can have two, three, four or more vertical columns of elements - you could even have a total of ten columns if you
wish!
Vertical photos often fit well in column patterns, so this is the first place to look when you have a majority of vertical photos.
Row Patternsare just like column patterns, except the design spots go across the layout
horizontally instead of vertically.
Like column patterns, you can draw a line between the rows, across the layout, and generally not hit any other element. Horizontal photos are typically used in row patterns. Pattern #590 has three rows
as you can see above, and Paije added six 3x4 photos of the misty beach trip. Also, look for row patterns when you need a place for a long title, since these designs may include hand-cut strips the width of the page.
The layout above includes a row of two film strip dies that have six horizontal photos of interesting beach finds from the Acadia hike.
Pinwheel Patterns are a well loved category of Mosaic Moments patterns and rightly so!
The designs rotate around a center point similar to the toy the pattern is named after - the pinwheel. The rotational balance makes Pinwheel Patterns especially pleasing to the eye. They usually have an equal amount
of horizontal and vertical design spots.
As you can see above on Pattern #340, Paije used 1x2 pieces of blue inked card-stock, and 2x3 X Factor die cuts as purely decorative features.
